 SUSTAINABILITY IN INDIA - OVERPOPULATION AND POLLUTION

Overpopulation has always been an issue. Its causes pollution, poverty, unemployment, lack of hygiene due to overcrowdedness and extensive use of natural resources leading to their depletion.

 Issues like global warming, extinction of many plants and animals and insufficient rainfall are also the consequences of overpopulation.India`s pollution has been grabbing attention all over the world .

India`s capital "Delhi" is the most polluted city in the country causing air and water pollution. As urbanization is increasing in India , people who are actually suffering are poor people . 

The problem of overpopulation and pollution are serious threats to sustainability in India. And they need action immediately.

  In more modern times, the fear exploded with the population of a book called  THE POPULATION BOMB Its author ,an American biologist, warned the western world of the condition he had seen in the new Delhi. Overpopulation was soon blamed for everything from poverty and poor resource management to destroying the environment. Some countries began experiments with morally and politically dubious methods of population control. China became the poster child and its one child policy resulted in a disastrous gender imbalance and like other control measures in Asia it was eventually repealed but the enemy had been identified as overpopulation.
