More than 50% of India`s current population is below the age of over 25 and over 65% below the age of 35. About 72.2% of population lives in some 638,000 villages and the rest 27.8% in about 5,480 towns and urban agglomeration.

  In more modern times, the fear exploded with the population of a book called  THE POPULATION BOMB Its author ,an American biologist, warned the western world of the condition he had seen in the new Delhi. Overpopulation was soon blamed for everything from poverty and poor resource management to destroying the environment. Some countries began experiments with morally and politically dubious methods of population control. China became the poster child and its one child policy resulted in a disastrous gender imbalance and like other control measures in Asia it was eventually repealed but the enemy had been identified as overpopulation.
